Somaliland and Somalia Presidents Set for Meet in Djibouti

Hargeisa (The Horn)- Plans to revive stalled talks between Somaliland and Somalia are at an advanced stage.

This was informed  by the Somaliland foreign minister Dr Saad Ali Shire  during a presser in  Hargeisa where he disclosed that the talks  resumption shall be jumpstarted by the first face to face meeting between Somaliland President Musa Behi Abdi and his Somalia counterpart  Mohamed Abdillahi Farmajo slated for Djibouti.

“While no date has been established yet, I can affirm that a meeting  between the two presidents is imminent”said the foreign minister Initiated by the British government in 2015 the internationally

sanctioned talks flopped after several phases noted by Turkey , the  resumption revealed minister Saad Ali Shire might be in Norway.

According to the foreign minister who thanked the Turks for hosting the  talks, the change to another country is more to do with the fact that  the Turkish government  was never  impartial owing to commitment to  greater Somalia pursued by the authorities in Ankara.

Despite the goodwill in the talks steps towards fruition were made  impossible by Somalia authorities who  to only recanted on implementing  agreed but adamancy on discussing reunification, a sacred subject for  Somaliland Queried on the government’s take on recruitment of Somaliland youths by Qatar armed forces, Dr Saad Ali Shire who confessed to having been  appraised on the issue, directed reporters to seek clarification within the ministry of employment and social services.
