Cleric Denied Preaching Rights for Decamping Kulmiye Parts

Hargeisa (The horn)- Because he has joined the Opposition Wadani party, Sheikh Suleiman Saeed Ali can no longer preach within Somaliland.

This development became overt after the government of Somaliland stopped Sheikh Suleiman from preaching during Friday prayers at a Mosque in Berbera town of Sahil region.

This comes a day after the Sheikh resigned from his position as director general at the ministry of religion as well as his ruling Kulmiye party membership. He subsequently joined opposition party Wadani

Police sources in Berbera indicate that they stopped the Sheikh from issuing a Friday prayer sermon at the Khalid Bin Walid mosque in the town following written orders from the ministry of religion Sahil regional coordinator Sheikh Mohamed Ahmed Hussein

Sources reveal that for a long time even prior to his appointment as the Ministry’s DG, Sheikh Suleiman was a regular preacher at the Said mosque.

The move debarring  the Sheikh from his clerical duties are seen by many as a cheap revenge mechanism by the administration more so as it pertains to proving that ruling Kulmiye party is fast losing its support to run-up of presidential elections.
